On Saturday, May 18 @8am meet at the Mt Home parking lot for the “Mt Tam Circumambulation” with park interpreters Rosanna Petralia and Eileen Bai.
We will almost faithfully retrace the steps of Gary Snyder and Allen Ginsberg’s historic circumambulation. We’ll stop at 10 inspirational locations to share poems, stories and nature awareness. The hike is 16 miles long and requires excellent form and stamina. Pace will be 2.5 miles per hour.
Challenging difficulty, 16 miles, 3,000 ft. elevation gain.
Please, make sure to bring enough water&food, and wear the right clothing. Here is a suggested list.
•Things to bring: hiking poles, water (2 liters), 4-6 snacks, lunch, water filter (optional), medications (if any), solar screen, and sun glasses.
•What to wear: layered clothing (weather/expected high temperature: TBA), sturdy and comfy hiking boots (with ankle support if possible), sun hat, bandana.
